Carlos Chavez was a Mexican composer and one of the true pioneers of Mexican music and American music in general. His music was lauded as "profoundly non-European" (high praise by any means). Despite this (or perhaps because of it), many of his pieces remain under-performed and under-recorded, including these ten brilliant preludes for piano.
